SELECTED POETRY

GOODNIGHT MODERN LIFE

The planes fly low over my house
Cracking the walls with drones
Like dogs howling into the night
Screaming of fat Americans and death
And love and money and God and you
Are gone. Lost to another, better looking,
Less selfish than I.
The planes fly low over my house
As I light the darkness with another
Cigarette and wait for the first shower of
Corpses to crash down from the skies
Through the diarrhoea slates of my roof,
Down onto my sad, pathetic, drunken life.
The thunder passes, I reach towards the
Stereo and somewhere Cobain screams -
Rape me, Rape me, Rape me...

FOR MY SWEETHEART

Thankfully

I was born with few brains,

Otherwise

This Constant

Bullshit

You continue to put me through

May have grown stale

Years ago.

TIME & TIDE

In summer,
Lying by the canal,
Silently placing bets on how many
Bodies theyd drag from her stinking depths to the shore

I counted fifteen one day.

VALENTINE

No cards
Or commercial sentiments,
Instead my belongings
From a love affair gone bad,
Wrapped in a brown padded envelope,
And sealed with a kiss.

ABSENCE

I hear them at night,
Living beneath me.
Fucking like animals,
In this heat.
This terrible heat,
Wishing you were here.

TAKE WITH YOU NOTHING WHEN YOU GO

It happened again today.

Driving home,

I lost all air.

And once again

Felt the world in its entirety
Crushing down on my lungs.
Retching at the side of the road,

I somehow found you.

Amongst crippled aluminium cans
And glory filled condoms.

Your face,

Your legs,

Those perfect sized tits.

The only girl I ever loved.

It was all there,

Now gone

Forever.

SIMPERING INTO OBLIVION

The night I tried
To get her drunk,
Ended in a row.
She threw plates,
And smashed glasses.
I smoked cigarettes,
And hid behind the sofa.
She told me to leave,
Called me a sick desperate prick,
I said I thought she was right,
Then poured her another drink.
