Nicola Brown

Born: 27 November 1981 at Simpsons Maternity Hospital, Edinburgh and raised in Leith

Q: When/why did you first start drinking in the Tynecastle Arms?

A: I first came into the pub when I was about 5 because my dad and uncle Stephen worked here. I never really drank here until I worked here, on 11 November 2001

Q: Why do you keep going in?

A: I work here and I know everybody and everybody loves me, hahahahahahah. Also, for the happy, smiling bar staff (me), it's a good laugh and there's a good juke-box

Q: What is your favourite song?

A: 'Dilemma' by Nelly and Kelly Rowland. I was at Eros 4 days before my birthday and sang it to my boyfriend, John. At my funeral, I'd like 'Sunshine on Leith' by the Proclaimers

Q: What is your favourite film?

A: 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Braveheart.'

Q: What is your favourite tipple?

A: Vodka and coke, so if anyone wants to come here and have brilliant service and buy me a drink, then they should

Q: What place in Edinburgh do you think every visitor to the city should see?

A: They should definitely go to see the Hibs play at Easter Road. Hibs are the best team in the world, no matter what place or league they're in. If you get a chance you should definitely go to see them. I like Gary O'Connor and Ian Murray. They're good footballers and they're gorgeous. So is Grant Brebner. HIBS FOR THE CUP. People should also sample the pubs and nightclubs in Edinburgh because the people are so friendly and even if you go in alone, you can find someone to sit and have a blether with. Used to like La Belle Angelle, until it burnt down. Also The Honecomb and Middletons. Charlie, the manager of Middletons used to pick me up from nursery when I was 3

Q: What don't you like about Edinburgh?

A: Nothing really. I lived in Toronto from 1995 till 2001 then came back to work here. It's very different over there. A lot more multi-cultural. Also spent 6 weeks in Australia over the new year. It's a good place to go to but don't leave your boyfriend back home. Basically though, there's no place like home

NICOLA'S 5 FAVOURITE RECORDS

2. 'Alive and Kicking' - Simple Minds
