Karen Munro

Born: At the Elsie Inglis Hospital in Edinburgh. When my mum went into labour with me, she had to get taken to the hospital in the coal motor. When I was wee, I was very close to my grandad. He used to take me everywhere with him. I've got 5 brothers and sisters, but it was me that used to get all the attention. Found out when I was older, the reason for this was, my grandad's sister, who looked very like me, had been murdered when she was young. She'd been playing at the old horse stables that used to be at the back of Morrison Street (where Scottish Widows now is) when it had happened. I've never seen a photo of her, as it makes me feel weird that I look like someone who was murdered

Q: When/why did you first start drinking in the Tynecastle Arms?

A: First came in about 10 years ago. My man used to always come in here, so I knew it was a good pub

Q: Why do you keep going in?:

A: To check my '21 goals.' Also I like to have a blether with a lot of folk in here. They always seem to have something to say to me. I've not been coming in so much since the birth of my daughter, Caitlin. Something went wrong when I was pregnant, and it led to complications which left me with rheumatoid arthritis, which I'm now disabled by. I used to have lots of energy. I was always bouncing about but now if I try, I suffer for it. I was overweight when I was younger, and used to go to keep fit to lose weight. The doctor's think this damaged my knees and led to the arthritis. I need to get injections in my knees now for the pain.

Q: What is your favourite song?

A: 'Red Red Wine' by UB40. Every time I have a party, it's always on a few times over the course of the night

Q: What place in Edinburgh do you think every visitor to the city should see?

A: Definitely into Princes Street for the shopping, and at night, usually take people along Rose Street, into The Pub and the Rose Street Brewery. Wouldn't usually go up there, but its a good place to take visitors, because there's a lot of pubs and a good atmosphere.

Q: What don't you like about Edinburgh?

A: Last weekend I was out and I couldn't get a taxi because of the rugby. I'm registered disabled and use the taxi's all the time (I have a taxi card) but they'd rather deal with the rugby supporters than their regular customers
