Born: 22 August 1949 in the Eastern General Hospital, LeithQ: When/why did you first start drinking in the Tynecastle Arms?
A: It was still called Campbells at the time. Prior to that it was called, Hares. Must have been about 1970. I used to follow the Hearts and stayed at Hutchison so it was the tradition to come in after the game
Q: Why do you keep going in?:
A: It's a good local with good company. I started coming in regularly about 4/5 years ago
Q: What's your favourite tipple?
A: Bacardi and Coke
Q: What is your favourite song?
A: I love the Beatles, particularly 'Yesterday.' I also like 'Je t'aime...moi non plus' as it was always a good puller in discos at the end of the night. Plus Louis Armstrong singing 'What a Wonderful World,' is about as good as it gets
Q: What part of Edinburgh should every visitor coming to the city see?
A: The museum in Chambers Street, the Castle, the Palace, down the Royal Mile. There's more history in that mile than anywhere else in the UK. I grew up in Hutchison, in the west of Edinburgh but my family are from the South Side. I was educated at Queen Victoria School in Dunblane. It was a boarding school at the time and home of the Sons of Scottish Soldiers, Seamen and Airmen Pipe Band, who play at every rugby international at Murrayfield Stadium since it opened in 1926. The school's now a co-ed but it wasn't in my day. I was last at Murrayfield on a schoolboy ticket in 1964. I still have the ticket. it was 2/6. Nowadays, I just shout at it on the telly
Q: What don't you like about Edinburgh?
A: The bloody council and their transport policy. I could go over the top with this. Counsellors who forget they are there to represent the people and not their party or affiliation
